BIO

Ryan Newton is an independent singer-songwriter from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, whose music blends elements of folk, alt-country, and rock. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of musical influences, including Oasis, Gaslight Anthem, and Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, Ryan crafts songs that resonate with listeners through emotive lyrics, raw honesty, and captivating melodies.

After spending nearly two decades developing his craft, Ryan released his long-awaited debut album Casting Shadows (On The Heels of Tomorrow) in the spring of 2019. The album’s title track won Best Alt-Country Song at the 2020 Independent Music Awards, and the single "Fragile Ways" garnered significant airplay on Vancouver Island radio and throughout Canada. Reflecting on his journey, Newton remarks, "I set a goal to release an album before my 40th birthday, and I managed to do it by the skin of my teeth. Life and circumstances often get in the way, but I never let the dream die. It may take longer to get there, but the fulfillment that comes from realizing that dream is immeasurable."

Building on the success of his debut, Ryan’s latest release, Casting Shadows (Remixes & Demos), offers a fresh perspective on the original album. The 10-track LP reworks five of the standout tracks from Casting Shadows (On the Heels of Tomorrow), alongside the demos of those same songs. As Ryan explains, "I was never fully satisfied with how the album turned out and wanted to give these songs another shot. These five tracks are my favorites, and when I found the demos during the process, I thought it would be interesting to share them with fans—a peek behind the curtain, if you will."

With his distinct voice and passion for songwriting, Ryan Newton continues to evolve as an artist, further solidifying his place in the Canadian music landscape.
